What Are We Like?

What you will find at Windmill is encapsulated by our motto: 'Enjoyment, Achievement and Aspirations' and this sums up our ethos too:
  • Children and adults enjoy being here because they feel safe, cared for, challenged and supported.
  • They achieve well because of the excellent provision (resources, facilities and staffing), opportunities (great teaching and extensive curriculum) and high expectations.
  • We hope that children (and adults) at Windmill set themselves targets for the future and go for them.  We aspire to be successful in small things and big things.

Our core purpose is to give children the best possible start to the rest of their lives.

Our values are fundamental to every decision we make:

'Every day is a new day'

'Be there for each other'

'Aim high'

'Do your best'

'Don't give up'

'Believe in yourself'

We are committed to raising standards of basic skills: the ability to read, write and speak in English and to use Mathematics and ICT at a level necessary to function and progress at work and in society in general.

We want every child to fulfil their potential, regardless of their background or circumstances.  High performance, coupled with well-being is the right of every child.  We believe that doing well in education is the most effective route for young people towards success and prosperity.
