 Teacher: Mr Cox

Cover supervisor: Miss Summers

Cornerstones Curriculum

Our first Spring term theme is allotment where we are going to be looking at lifecycles in Science and linking this theme into subject areas. We will be reading the Secret Garden in Love to read which fits with our allotment theme perfectly.

Homework is given out every Friday and is due in the following Wednesday. Homework consists of the following:
- Spellings to be done daily and written up into sentences
- times tables / minute maths practice
- a piece of either maths or writing based activities linked to what we have been or are about to do in class.

Why is reading important?
Reading forms the foundation of everything. Without being able to read:
How do you fill out an application form for a job or a house?
How to do train to be a nurse or an engineer or work in an office?
How do you check your writing makes sense?
Evidence suggests that children who read for enjoyment every day not only perform better in reading tests than those who don’t, but also develop a broader vocabulary, increased general knowledge and a better understanding of other cultures.
As parents you can make a huge difference!

P.E- Please bring P.E kit on a Monday and take it home on a Friday.
