Reading in school:
We follow the 'Read Write Inc' reading scheme. This focused on a daily sound where we will teach the children to read and write the sound using images and models. When they know a good amount of sounds, they will learn to segment ('sound out'- c-a-t) sounds in words and then blend (squash together to hear a word - cat). When they can read words we will move onto bigger sounds and apply their reading knowledge into simple sentences.
We will learn these sounds in this order. Children are expected to know these (fluently) before they leave reception aswell as the 'red' words. They should be able to use their phonic knowledge to read words and simple sentences.

Parents, find out more about RWI here:
Children should be self- reading for roughly 10 minutes a day at home. They should also be read to on a daily basis (to build up language, expression, pace and fluency). All the reading your child accesses at home should be recorded in their reading diary and  should be in school everyday. This will be monitored on a weekly basis. Parents of children who are not reading sufficiently will be contacted to discuss this further.
Reading is the most important skill your child can learn with us... therefore we do not insist on any other homework besides this!

Each day our children are entitled to Milk
and Snack, please ensure we are aware
of any allergies!
Please ensure all uniform is named. It is
really hard to locate unform for children who
 have no named items!
Our days for PE often change, we recommend
Kit being in on a Monday and kept in school
until Friday.
Kit should consist of school logo navy blue or
white T-shirt (plain will do!) and black PE
shorts or joggers. Children should have PE
pumps or good trainers for outdoor use.
