Emergencies and Bad Weather
If school is ever closed, it will be published on the Telford & Wrekin website:
We have very clear procedures in case of emergencies or bad weather that may affect school opening/closing.
Even when anticipating snow, members of staff always get up at normal time (or maybe earlier) to get ready to come to work. We only stop that plan if we receive a phone call to say that school is closed.
We would like children and families to do the same, but instead of waiting for a phone call, you can check Twitter (@windmillprimary), Facebook (WindmillPrimarySchool) and check Radio Shropshire (listen to 96.0FM or check their website: www.bbc.co.uk/shropshire).
The worst thing you can do is telephone school.
The chances are that most members of staff will be busy sorting everything out and there’s a chance that your call won’t be answered or that it will interrupt our emergency procedures in the case of bad weather/conditions.
If school opens in the morning but needs to close during the day, we will be using your contact information to let you know. Please be aware that this may happen – it is always difficult to predict exactly what conditions we will face.
Mr Gibbons will be in touch with other local headteachers to find out their decisions about opening their schools. This helps him to make his decision. Please support us whatever the decision is – we are always trying to make sure children are safe, first and foremost, and well educated.
