Religions and World Views
(also known as Religious Education)
Our RWV programme is fantastic! During the global pandemic, Mr Ian Butterworth, our resident expert and guru when it comes to all things to do with religions and world views, designed and wrote our bespoke RWV curriculum, which has ambitious endpoints and a wealth of resources and experiences.
We want Windmill children to develop a strong understanding and a deep respect and tolerance of religious beliefs (see also our commitment to British Values). We supplement the RWV curriculum with Deep and Diverse experiences, that are guaranteed for every child. This includes visiting places of worship, including:
- An Anglican church (Y1)
- A Mosque (Y2)
- A Hindu Temple (Y3)
- A Catholic Church (Y4)
- A Synagogue (Y5)
- A Gurdwara (Y6)
Whilst we strongly prefer all children to access all areas of our curriculum, we do understand and respect parents'/carers' wishes to withdraw their child from any aspect, including Religions and World Views. Please write to the school office if this is your preference: office@windmillprimaryschool.co.uk. Ask if you need support.
