Windmill Nursery is a sessional nursery that works with the school term times.  We have morning and afternoon sessions and have provision for 15 and 30 hour placements – subject to government requirements.

We take children the term after their third birthday, but there are a select number of spaces for children who have already turned three, and have two-year-old funding in place.

The nursery offers both 15 hours and 30 hour sessions.

The 15 hour sessions run either from 8:35am until 11:35am or from 12:30pm until 3:30pm Monday to Friday, and are open to all children in the term after their third birthday.

For working parents, sessions making up a weekly total of 30 hours are available, although certain criteria have to be met. Sessions start at 8:35am and finish at 2:35pm.  The children join the Reception classes for lunchtime. They can bring their own packed lunch or can purchase a hot school dinner for £2.50 per day.

If you would like to enquire about availability for your child, please complete our Initial Contact Form and return it to Melanie Dexter and Catherine York via office@windmillprimaryschool.co.uk. Once we have received your application and assessed our availability we will be in contact with you.

Ms Lambert is the Early Years lead teacher and is based in the Nursery.  Iola Purcell and Jess Butcher are the nursery supervisors, and Micki Glendenning is an Early Years Assistant, also based in the Nursery.

Please let us know if you have arranged for someone different to collect your child.  We will not release your child to another person even if your child knows them, unless we have been told by you.

We do PE every Friday, so please make sure your children are wearing suitable clothes.

Welly Wednesday... is on a Wednesday!  Please ensure that your child comes to nursery suitably dressed because we will spend a considerable amount of the session outside.  Children will need a pair of wellies, a long sleeved top and trousers. They should still bring shoes as they will be needed when back in nursery.

Please send your child in clothes suitable for the time of year:

  • In the warmer months, a sunhat and sun-cream will be needed
  • In the cooler months, bring a warm hat, gloves and a warm coat
  • For both times of the year waterproofs are often needed (coat and trousers)
    • If you don't have your own, please let us know and we may be able to provide some

Feel free to join us on Thursdays for Fonic Phun, where we will teach you and your child our phoneme (letter sound) of the week and maybe share a story.

There will also be various events during the term, including Singalongs, nursery drops in, play and stay sessions but we will notify you in advance of these events.

Thank you for choosing Windmill Nursery and trusting us to be the starting blocks for your child’s educational journey.  We look forward to welcoming you!
